My love for photography began when I was a teenager. Armed with a basic camera, I used to take photos of my friends, family and then people around me. I am a self-taught photographer, learning over the years how to capture that special moment in time.
In 2012 to 2014, I had the opportunity to work as a photographer for Travel and Living Magazine in Nepal. My ‘day job’ was then in the travel industry too as a tour organizer. This gave me the chance to travel extensively in Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan which also meant that I could capture many unique images.
In 2014, I was the photo editor for an online magazine; and in 2015, I was the chief photo editor for an online news portal.
In between, I’ve been a translator and fixer for professional photographers and film makers from around the world.
I have been asked to take product photos for advertisers, as well as photos of development projects for NGOs.
My personal interest is in shooting the human stories which are often ignored by the mainstream. This has led me to document the story of the first person in the world to receive the classification of ‘O’ (Other) in the gender category in her passport; as well as the stories of those who were caught up in the 10 year civil war in Nepal. These exclusive photo series were published in the national daily in Nepal.
I want my photos to move hearts and minds, and to inspire action to bring about a more just world, especially for those who are marginalized.
I am willing to travel, and to work on short or longer term assignments.
